Honda was once a pioneer and leading proponent of hybrid cars – as witness the space-age, two-seater Insight that first arrived 20 years ago. Some might call it a crossover, but the term softroader is probably a better fit for Citroen’s new C5 Aircross. Cushioned suspension and squishy seats were high on the list of design goals for the car, forming part of the French company’s Advanced Comfort strategy. If you’ve grown weary of being rattled about by sports suspension, rubber-band tyres, concrete springs and bucket seats, you might warm to a more welcoming, sofa-inspired alternative. Or so Citroen hopes.

Read more »Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09864549019933181959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14206303.post-26615123491572531592018-12-20T18:12:00.000+00:002019-02-01T15:41:10.121+00:00Great outdoors: Rivian EVs look ready for adventureby Lem Bingley

I’m not sure why the term “mild” became popular to describe less ambitious varieties of hybrid car, but it’s a good word to describe the Kia Sportage 48V. It has been given a modest upgrade in terms of electrical technology and has gained a reasonable amount of benefit in return.
Kia’s sensible Ceed first appeared in 2006, along with a not very sensible name. Cee-apostrophe-d always seemed like a particularly daft thing to call such an unfussy car, so the more straightforward spelling that arrives along with the new third-generation car is more than welcome.

Nissan’s second-generation Leaf is almost but not quite 100% new. If we were looking at a living creature rather than a car, we might say that the skin, muscles and internal organs have all been replaced but the skeleton remains the same. As a result the new Leaf is more powerful, lasts longer between charges, looks a lot different, but retains the same basic size and shape as before.

Read more »Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09864549019933181959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14206303.post-80420853377852899242018-03-19T17:49:00.000+00:002018-03-19T17:52:25.706+00:00Volvo XC40 review: boxy but good

Volvo has produced some knockout designs over the past few years, with handsome cars like the V90 estate and XC60 off-roader boasting great proportions, neat details and an effortless sense of poise. The new XC40 manages to preserve all those great qualities while looking almost entirely unlike the rest of the range, which is a feat most rivals have singularly failed to pull off.

Read more »Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09864549019933181959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14206303.post-40470107826679748762018-01-17T16:24:00.000+00:002018-01-18T10:54:36.445+00:00Fisker Emotion EV aims highby Lem Bingley
